The Jewish cemetery occupies a separate section of the municipal cemetery. It has its own entrance with a gate decorated by large Stars of David. In the cemetery grounds are both simple graves and monumental tombs, and Jewish symbols such as the menorah alternate with the traditional subjects of late 19th-Century cemetery symbolism. One practice that is not part of the Jewish custom, in fact, is the placing of photographs on the gravestones.
